ROGERS PACES GASTONIA WIN

Jason Rogers belted a pair of homers and drove in five runs on Wednesday night to lead the Gastonia Honey Hunters to a 10-3 victory, their second straight win over the Lancaster Barnstormers at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

With the win, Gastonia improved to 6-5 on the season while the Barnstormers fell to 6-6.

Rogers connected on a drive to right center field in the top of the first off Dominic DiSabatino (0-2) staking Gastonia to an early 2-0 lead.  The Gastonia first baseman capped the scoring with a three-run drive onto the picnic deck off newcomer Augie Sylk in the eighth.

Miles Williams added a solo homer for Gastonia in the first, and Jake Skole went deep on a three-run shot in the fifth that snapped a 3-3 tie.

The Barnstormers managed to strike only in the third.  Alejandro De Aza and Melvin Mercedes greeted Jailen Peguero (1-1) with singles.  One out later, Trayvon Robinson walked to load the bases.  LeDarious Clark beat out a roller to shortstop to knock home one run.  Kelly Dugan dumped a single into right center for two more, tying the game.

The series concludes on Thursday evening with the Barnstormers throwing Danny Taggart (0-1) against right-hander William Kirwan (0-1).  Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel, starting at 6:25.
