BARNSTORMERS ANNOUNCE 2021 SCHEDULE – JUNE 4TH HOME OPENER
The Lancaster Barnstormers will be welcoming three new foes to Clipper Magazine Stadium this season but will be spending more time taking on familiar rivals.
Following the 2020 pandemic hiatus, Lancaster will open its home schedule on June 4, taking on the cross-river rival York Revolution in the first of 25 meetings between the two clubs. That will take place after the Barnstormers return to the field on May 27 with a seven-game North Carolina road trip to face the newly-formed Gastonia Honey Hunters and the High Point Rockers.
Gastonia will make its first trip to the Red Rose City on June 8. A new league entry from Charleston, WV (West Virginia Power) will come to Lancaster on June 25, and the Lexington (KY) Legends will pay an inaugural visit on July 6.
Charleston and Lexington have replaced Somerset (NJ) and Sugar Land (TX) on the roster of Atlantic League teams following this winter’s restructuring of the affiliated minor leagues.
Overall, the season features 120 games through October 10 with no All-Star Game scheduled for 2021 due to the late start. The first half will end in early August, following the 60th game. The Barnstormers will play 74 of their games against their North division opponents: York, Southern Maryland, and Long Island. Most Mondays, other than holidays, will be off days on the schedule.
The opening road series to Gastonia will be the Stormers’ only trip to FUSE District Stadium in 2021. They will make two visits apiece to Lexington, High Point and Charleston.
Atlantic League executives continue to work with local and state health officials on Covid-19 protocols for the upcoming campaign. Details on those will be outlined at a later date.
A Season Ticket membership is the only way to guarantee tickets to a Barnstormers game this season. Visit LancasterBarnstormers.com for more information or call 717-509-4487.
