Baseball enthusiasts in Lancaster will have their chance to be treated like a pro without having to stray far from home.
During the weekend before the 2017 Lancaster Barnstormers arrive to begin their season, fans will be taking the field for the Inaugural Barnstormers Fantasy Camp to be held at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Friday evening, March 31 and all Saturday, April 1.
After an opening dinner that Friday evening, Fantasy Camp players will arrive on Saturday morning to sign a contract, choose a walkup song and have headshots taken.
Workouts with managers Ross Peeples and Pete Andrelczyk will take place after a light breakfast. Fantasy camp players will get their cuts in the cage, be able to flash the leather during infield practice and more. They will also be attempting to make an impression on the two skippers, who will be looking to select the best they see for Saturday afternoon’s big game.
That draft will take place after lunch. Teams will head to the clubhouses with personalized jerseys and hats and have their own nameplates on the lockers.
Finally, at 4:00, campers will get the full experience of being a Barnstormer. The camp’s culminating event, the big game will take place, complete with public address announcements, walkup music, scoreboards and video boards active, video cameras and even a live National Anthem singer.
As a lasting memento of their weekend as a Barnstormer, campers will be given photos and highlight videos of their time with the club, including Saturday’s game.
Space will be limited to 30 entrants, ages 25 and older.
