2017 Barnstormers Team & Individual Season Highlights

  • Eleven contracts were sold to Major League organizations, a franchise record and, at the time of the eleventh a league record, since broken by the Somerset Patriots. Four of those contracts were purchased by the San Francisco Giants within the span of 2 ½ weeks.  Four contracts were purchased within 72 hours in the final week of the first half.
  • Finished the season, 76-64, tied for the best record in the Atlantic League overall and the best in the Freedom Division by eight games.
  • The total of 76 wins was the third highest in franchise history. The winning percentage was the fifth highest in club history.
  • Lancaster never lost more than four straight games.
  • The Barnstormers played 139 games while fighting for a playoff spot. They were never more than four games out at any point and led the division for over two months total.
  • Lancaster made up the four-game deficit over the final eight games within the first half of the schedule, forcing a makeup game with Southern Maryland to be a tiebreaker.
  • The club led the league with 710 runs scored. They also led the league in doubles, triples, total bases, stolen bases and OPS.
  • The 187 total of stolen bases was a franchise record, breaking the previous mark of 172, set in 2005.
  • The club won a franchise record nine games when trailing going into the final inning. The previous mark was four.
  • Seven grand slams were hit, a new franchise record. Sean Halton tied the individual mark with three.
  • Sean Halton won the league titles in both home runs (26) and RBI (90). He also topped the league in extra base hits, slugging percentage and number of times being hit by a pitch.
  • Darian Sandford finished second in the league in stolen bases with 45, also the second highest total in club history. He did it in only 60 games.
  • Five players were named to the All-Star Game. Sean Halton homered in the game, and Scott Shuman pitched a scoreless inning.
